Stuttering Society in 2025: A Year of Advocacy and Connection

As 2025 comes to a close, many meaningful moments have shaped these past 12 months. This year has been remarkable in terms of advocacy, outreach, partnerships, and global connection, and we had the privilege of representing our community at several important events.

We had the honor of speaking at StutterFest, sharing experiences and insights alongside an international community of people who stutter, researchers, and speech therapists. We were also invited to the Stuttering Symposium at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), in Brussels, where we presented on Stuttering Society and contributed to conversations on stuttering research, advocacy, and support.

The year continued with our participation in the World Stuttering Congress in Finland, where we led two workshops addressing topics such as the importance of community and ways to strengthen self-confidence in people who stutter. We also held our first in-person edition of Stutterviews, during which we interviewed live two very special guests who shared their journeys, challenges, and achievements. Stutterviews is a joint initiative by Stuttering Society and Stamily, held every three to four months, usually online. The Congress was truly an incredible opportunity to meet other people who stutter in person and build meaningful connections.

On the occasion of International Stuttering Awareness Day, we also presented at Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), where we spoke in more depth about the work and impact of Stuttering Society. In addition, we participated online as speakers at the annual event of the Brazilian Stuttering Association (ABRA Gagueira), held in Balneário Camboriú, in southern Brazil.

It was also in 2025 that Stuttering Society received its first philanthropic donation, through Kaira Fund. Our deepest gratitude for this meaningful support!

2025 was a year of visibility, dialogue, and collaboration. From local universities to international conferences, Stuttering Society continued to promote awareness, acceptance, and support for people who stutter. Each event was an opportunity to talk about stuttering, meet new people, better understand the needs of our community, and strengthen connections.

We are grateful for the support and every opportunity to participate, present, and connect. As we look ahead to 2026, we carry forward the lessons of this year and renew our commitment to supporting people who stutter, amplifying voices, breaking stigmas, and working towards a more aware, empathetic, and inclusive society in relation to disfluency.
