Yesterday, Raiani Sibien, founder of Stuttering Society, gave a guest lecture at Maastricht University, in the Netherlands, where she opened a university course by sharing the mission behind Stuttering Society and her personal journey with stuttering.
During the lecture, Raiani spoke about what stuttering really is and explored the social, emotional, and professional challenges people who stutter often face. She also presented the story and work of Stuttering Society: how it was founded, future plans, and highlighted the importance of awareness, inclusion, and social change.
The session was met with great enthusiasm from students and helped them better understand different aspects of stuttering and how they can offer support.
Thank you, Prof. dr. Abel Diaz Gonzalez, for the opportunity to share about stuttering and the work we do. We are deeply grateful for the invitation and warm welcome. Moments like this reaffirm the importance of education, empathy, and storytelling in building a more inclusive society.
